Qu’importe ! Allez donc ! Les vapeurs 
surchauffées des obstacles ne sont que 
des drames infatigables ; il n’y a pas 
d’obstacles, le seul obstacle est le but, 
marchez sans but. Analysez le sang 
d’un héros et celui d’un lâche, vous 
verrez qu’ils sont exactement semblables, 
votre objectivité vous fait aimer davantage 
le héros, uniquement parce que vous 
êtes des snobs, le courage d’être 
lâche est à mon avis infiniment plus 
sympathique; l’art que j’aime est l’art 
des lâches. Les Cormon, les Besnard, 
ces maréchaux de la peinture, sont 
faits pour peindre Joffre, Mangin ou
