I received the other day the photograph of 
the painting by Gauguin which you were good enough 
to have prepared for me. I enclose my check in settle- 
nent. 
I feel compelled however to point out that 
any letter of November 8 did not constitute an order 
out only an inauiry. What I hoped to obtain was a color 
ohotograph and I regard an ordinary photograph as of ne 
value whatever. I had in the meantime obtained a color 
orint of the pvpainting in question.
